– Unique Job Opportunity: Defence Equipment Officer
The Job:
- Are you looking
for something different? The British Embassy is looking for a Defence
Equipment Officer to join our small but highly successful and motivated
trade development team. This challenging role helps promote and support
British Defence companies and products on the Romanian market.
- Your role will be
a unique one within the British Embassy as the defence portfolio will
be your responsibility alone and you will be required to work closely
with the British Ambassador, Defence Attaché (DA) and UKTI Defence
& Security Organisation (DSO).
- The ideal candidate
should have experience of Romania's Defence Industry - and we
will give preference to such applicants. This position comes with a
high level of responsibility so you will need to be a good organiser,
adaptable, able to work under pressure, often to short deadlines. You
will also need to be able to deal with people often at a senior level.
There is a strong team spirit within the commercial section and the
Embassy is committed to developing its staff with the help of an active
training programme.
- We are keen to develop
links with Romania’s regions so opportunities will exist for travel
both within Romania and the UK.
Your core tasks will include:
- Organising UKTI
DSO events and activities including the high profile Population Security
Seminar scheduled for June 2009;
- Organising Official
visits and UK Inward Visits to events such as the Farnborough Air Show;
- Providing regular
summaries of relevant press articles and maintaining and developing
existing networks of contacts from both the private and public sector;
- Supporting UK companies
both established in Romania and those looking to position themselves
in market - from large multi-nationals to SMEs.
The Candidate:
You should have:
- Excellent English
both oral and written with focus on drafting and reporting
- A customer focused
‘can do’ attitude and the ability to deal effectively with people
at all levels
- Proven management
and team player skills
- Strong IT skills
including MS Office
- A desire to succeed.
The Package:
The starting salary for the
position is EUR 1181 gross (plus meal tickets). There are opportunities
to earn performance bonuses and the post has 21 days leave allowance.
The position is subject to
achieving satisfactory local and overseas security clearances and successful
completion of 3 months’ probation.
This position is initially
to cover the incumbent job holder's maternity leave from 1 January 2009
to 1 January 2010. There may be a possibility to extend for a further
period depending on the return to work date of the current job holder.
